Do you read the Bible to your children daily, teaching them about God? This is my goal, instead of hours of evening television, movies, video games, and Internet!

The next generation could be lost, not knowing Jesus as their Savior and Lord, if we parents are too busy indulging in entertainment. If our children don’t come to know the Lord, who will lead our grandchildren and (if the Lord tarries) our great-grandchildren to know Christ?

Instead, each generation will become more deeply entrenched in sins of liberal media, until Jesus comes to take His church from the earth. Who will He find watching for Him, if everyone is busy “watching” the latest entertainment day and night?

Who will still be hiding God’s word in their hearts, seeking God in it about daily life… still in love with and trusting the Lord Jesus?

With events going as they are, the committed, active faithful could be very few. The majority of America will be more and more influenced, desensitized, and brain-washed by the values of the world “taught” through most of the media. Christ’s bride may be too busy being entertained to go tell people about Jesus! (Facebook can be a tool for witnessing about Christ, but we must be focused, or it won’t happen.)

What should be done? Let’s quit talking and take action! Let’s return to a simpler life. Ask the Lord what He would have you do. Ban use of TV, etc., in your life and with your family?

God calls us to be a peculiar people in 1 Peter 2:9,11: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, (a peculiar people, KJV) so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul.”

We are to be holy (set apart) unto God. This is not strange in God’s eyes. It will be difficult, if your spouse doesn’t agree to rid your home of some or all of television.

Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-37, “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to  bring peace, but a sword…a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household. Anyone who loves his father or mother more than Me…anyone who loves his son or daughter more than Me… and anyone who does not take his cross and follow Me is not worthy of Me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

If your spouse is a Christian, pray that Christ will deliver you all from the current media craze. Then peace and agreement can be restored in your Christian marriage, as you fully follow Christ together!

We must not hold onto our “favorite sins” that so easily entangle us! Hebrews 12:1,2“…let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I’d rather be pleasing to God than to the world. How about you? If you are a Christian, you already are a “peculiar person”.  Now let’s all commit our ways fully to the Lord! He is the Way! :)
